The Biology Program, in collaboration with the Biology Laboratory, conducted mandatory Biosafety Training for first-year students. The purpose of this training was to introduce students to the Biology laboratory facilities at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, the activities performed in the lab, and the procedures to follow when entering the laboratory. In previous years, this training was conducted in person, but due to the pandemic this year, it was shifted to a virtual format. The training took place from 09:00 to 11:30.

The event began with opening remarks by the MC, Ms. Shilfiana Rahayu, M.Sc. Next, the program representatives, represented by Ms. Siti Aisah, M.Si., the secretary of the Biology program, delivered a welcome address. The training continued with presentations by the Biology Laboratory team. There were five speakers: four laboratory assistants (PLP) representing each lab section and one Head of the Biology Laboratory.

Dr. Isma Kurniatanty, M.Si., the Head of the Biology Laboratory, provided an overview and general information about the labs within the Biology program. Following that, the PLP members delivered their respective topics. Mr. Dony E.S, S.Pd.i, discussed laboratory safety and what students need to prepare when entering the Integrated Laboratory. Ms. Anif Yuni Mualifah, S.Pd.i, covered safety aspects related to genetics laboratories. Ms. Ethik, S.Pd, presented on microbiology laboratory safety. Lastly, Mr. Sutriyono, S.Si, addressed safety measures in the zoology laboratory.

These PLP speakers not only explained safety protocols for each lab but also discussed the various equipment available, the lab activities, and the tools that can be used for emergencies in case of accidents.
