On September 8, 2023, the Biology Department at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta conducted a professionalism training with the theme “Botanical Art.” This annual event took place in the Integrated Laboratory at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The training was attended by 20 Biology students interested in botanical art. The opening session was led by MC Khotimatul Khusna, a Biology student from the 2020 cohort. Following the opening, Dr. Najda Rifqiyati, M.Si., the Head of the Biology Department, expressed gratitude for students’ active participation in both soft skills and hard skills activities beyond regular coursework.

The event continued with an introduction to the moderator, Dr. Dian Aruni Kumalawati, M.Sc. Subsequently, the two guest speakers, Ms. Shilfiana Rahayu, M.Sc., and Mr. Atsil Naufal Ramadhana, presented their CVs. Ms. Shilfiana Rahayu discussed the concept of botanical art, distinguishing it from botanical illustration, and highlighted the goals of botanical art. Mr. Atsil Naufal Ramadhana, the second speaker, covered techniques for drawing objects from various angles, shading based on light, and other drawing methods.

The training concluded with a drawing practice session for the Botanical Art participants. Afterward, there was a discussion, and participants had the opportunity to consult with the speakers beyond the scheduled training hours. The event concluded with a group photo at 11:00 AM.
