Visit from Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to Promote the SAKURA Exchange Program
On Wednesday, October 3, 2019, the Biology Department and the Faculty of Science and Technology received a visit from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The purpose of this visit was to introduce and consolidate the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science. Also known simply as the SAKURA program, it serves as a Japan-Asia youth exchange initiative focused on science.
The program invites highly accomplished young students and professionals from Asian countries for short-term visits to Japan. During their stay, participants have the opportunity to engage with Japan’s cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements. The SAKURA program aims to foster academic exchange and collaboration between Japan and its partner countries.
Professor Hideaki Yasuhara, Head of International Relations and Collaboration at the Faculty of Engineering, initiated this program. His vision is to enhance Asian youths’ interest in Japanese science and technology, both within universities and research institutions. By participating in this program, the Faculty of Science and Technology contributes to academic enrichment for all parties involved, aligning with the faculty’s mission and vision.
