Guest Lecture on Microalgae Potential by Prof. Ani Binti Idris

On Monday, October 28, 2019, the Biology Department organized a “Guest Lecture” from 09:00 to 11:00 in classroom FST-101. The participants included all active Biology students from the 2018 cohort. The guest speaker for this event was Prof. Ani Binti Idris from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. During her presentation, Prof. Ani Binti Idris discussed several of her research studies related to the potential of microalgae.

The event was opened by the Head of the Biology Department, Ms. Erny Qurrotul Ainy, M.Si., followed by the guest speaker’s presentation. Prof. Ani briefly introduced Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and highlighted the potential of microalgae. She explained the cultivation processes carried out at UTM, the challenges in conducting microalgae research, and the various research opportunities related to microalgae at UTM. The lecture concluded with a Q&A session and discussions with Biology students.

Additionally, on the same day at 13:00, Prof. Ani Binti Idris had the opportunity to discuss “Designing Research for a Reputable Publication” with faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology. Moderated by Dr. Esti Wahyu Widowati, M.Si., the discussion covered research models suitable for publication in Scopus-indexed journals. The guest speaker also shared insights on writing journal articles based on literature reviews and provided tips for successful publication in international journals indexed by Scopus or Scimago. The session continued until 15:00, including interactive Q&A with attending faculty members.
