Social Activity: Free Mask Distribution to Eid al-Fitr Congregants in Gading Sari Housing Complex for Covid-19 Mitigation
One of the reasons for the ongoing high COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is the low public awareness of adhering to health protocols. One crucial aspect is the use of masks in public places. Ardyan P. Kurniawan, M.Si., a lecturer in the Biology program, organized a social activity by distributing free masks to Eid al-Fitr congregants on May 13, 2021, at the Gading Sari Housing Complex. The event aimed to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and included several measures: arranging physical distancing among congregants during Eid al-Fitr prayers, conducting body temperature checks, distributing free masks, and providing handwashing facilities.
To maintain physical distancing during Eid al-Fitr prayers, designated spots were marked for congregants. Measurements were taken using a tape measure, and chalk marks were made. This marking process occurred on May 12, 2021. Additionally, body temperature checks were performed upon the arrival of congregants for Eid al-Fitr prayers. Anyone with a body temperature above 37.0°C was not allowed to participate. Fortunately, the measured body temperatures ranged from 36.3°C to 36.7°C. After temperature checks, congregants received free masks to wear during the prayers. These masks met the required standards and had official approval from the Health Department. Following the Eid al-Fitr prayers, attendees were promptly asked to leave the location to minimize contact with others.
