Professionalism Training in Biology: Identification of Tuberculosis Bacteria
The Biology program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta organized the 8th Professionalism Training, attended by both students and alumni. The event took place on September 12, 2021, with the theme “Identification of Bacteria in Tuberculosis Patients” presented by Dr. Nastiti Intan Permata Sari, M.Ked.Trop. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and preparation of biology graduates in understanding how tuberculosis bacteria affect the body.
The session began with the agenda read by Zidni Amaliyatul Hidayah, followed by the Indonesian national anthem and the UIN Sunan Kalijaga hymn. The event continued with a speech by the head of the Biology program, Ibu Najda Rifqiyati, M.Si.
The core of the event featured a presentation by guest speaker Dr. Nastiti, moderated by Ibu Shilfiana Rahayu, S.Si., M.Si., a faculty member in the Biology program. Dr. Nastiti explained topics related to the pathogenesis of tuberculosis, the types and characteristics of pathogenic bacteria in tuberculosis patients, clinical symptoms, and laboratory testing for TB. The speaker also discussed how to interpret the results of bacterial identification using PCR. Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session with the participants. The training concluded at 11:30 AM WIB, and awards were given to the most active participants during the session.
