Professionalism Training in Biology: “The Potential of Herbal Tea”
The Biology Program conducted a Professionalism Training for students on November 13, 2021, with the theme “The Potential of Herbal Tea in Supporting Global Health.” This training session marked the final event in the series of Professionalism Training for students. The guest speaker for this session was Wardha Ayu Andriyuni (also known as Nona Camellia), and the event was moderated by Mrs. Satiti Ratnasari, M.Sc. The session began promptly at 09:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) and was conducted online via Zoom. The event commenced with an introduction by Zidni Amaliyatul Hidayah, followed by the Indonesian national anthem and the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta hymn.
Next, Mrs. Siti Aisah, M.Si., the Secretary of the Biology Program, delivered an opening address. In her speech, she expressed the hope that this training initiative would continue and that the knowledge and skills gained would enrich the students’ understanding. The main part of the event featured a presentation by Wardha Ayu Andriyuni (Nona Camellia), moderated by Mrs. Satiti Ratnasari, M.Sc. The speaker covered various topics, including the definition of traditional medicine, herbal medicines, phytopharmaceuticals, biofarmaka plants, the herbal market, sources of medicinal plants, and the potential of herbal plants. The speaker emphasized that Indonesia’s remarkable natural resources (specifically plant-based resources) could be harnessed. As a practical demonstration, the speaker also prepared herbal tea and introduced complementary snacks. Following the presentation, there was a discussion and Q&A session with the participants. The event concluded at 11:00 WIB.
