Biotechnology Lecture in the 2021/2022 Odd Semester
On Friday, February 18, 2022, the Biological Sciences Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a virtual biotechnology lecture for the 2021/2022 academic year. Participants included students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and other academic communities from institutions such as UIN Walisongo Semarang, UIN Alauddin Makassar, and IAIN Batusangkar. The event commenced at 9:00 AM (WIB) with an opening by the MC, Fahrul Nurkholis.
The program continued with welcoming remarks from the Head of the Biological Sciences Program, Dr. Najda Rifqiyati. Two distinguished speakers were introduced for the lecture: Prof. H. Hardinsyah, PhD (Professor at IPB University), and Revata Utama (Co-Founder & CTO of Nusantics).
Prof. H. Hardinsyah discussed the role of the human microbiome from birth, emphasizing its potential impact on health. He covered topics such as maintaining microbial balance, controlling pathogens, and the immune system’s interactions with microbiome genes. Additionally, he highlighted foods that support a healthy microbiome.
Revata Utama, in his presentation, focused on Nusantics’ research, particularly individual variations in the microbiome. He explored the gut-brain connection and the prospects of microbiome studies in humans.
The lecture concluded with a lively discussion, featuring questions from students and faculty. The event ended with a group photo.
