Mini Symposium 2022 on Sustainable Agriculture and Environment
The Biology Study Program (PS Biologi) hosted the Mini-Symposium 2022 with the theme “Sustainable Agriculture and Environment.” The event took place online via Zoom on Friday, September 9, 2022. It was a collaborative effort involving UIN Walisongo Semarang and the Institute of Agriculture STIPER Yogyakarta.
Dr. Khurul Wardati, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, delivered the opening remarks. In her speech, Dr. Khurul emphasized the importance of expanding international collaborations to realize the vision and mission of FST and its partner universities (UIN Walisongo Semarang and INSTIPER). The Mini Symposium followed a panel concept, featuring two sessions with a total of six panel speakers. Notably, two of the speakers were international researchers: Hiroshi Arai, PhD, from NARO, Tsukuba, Japan, and Zakharycheva Alisa Pavlovna, a researcher from the Research Center of Biotechnology at the Winogradsky Institute of Microbiology in Russia. The other four speakers included Eka Sulistiyowati, M.IWM, Fariha Wilisiani, PhD, Dian T. Armanda, PhD (candidate), and Dr. Erick Firmansyah.
The symposium covered diverse topics presented by the speakers. The event garnered significant interest, with over 200 participants from various universities and agricultural institutions attending.
Overall, this initiative contributes to the internationalization efforts of the Biology Study Program and the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. By bringing together international speakers from academic institutions and research bodies, the symposium aims to foster collaboration in education, research, and community service.
