“Botanical Expo 2022” as the First Step in Branding the Botany Study Group

The Botany Study Group (KS Botani), also known as Botanika, which operates under the Biology Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, organized the inaugural “Botanical Expo 2022.” The event took place in the first-floor atrium of the Faculty of Science and Technology over four days: September 12, 13, 17, and 18, 2022. The Botanical Expo served as both a participation effort and a lively addition to the EIDU Expo, celebrating KS Biolaska’s 18th anniversary and contributing to the highlight of the 2022 Biology Week.

Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), the Expo ran smoothly and enthusiastically, drawing significant interest from students across various faculties, as well as visitors from the general public. Even faculty members attended and showed support by purchasing products displayed at the stands. The diverse items available at the Botanical Expo were all crafted by KS Botani members. With great enthusiasm, they collaborated to create resin-based accessories such as keychains, brooches, bracelets, and bookmarks. By incorporating dried pressed flowers prepared well in advance, these resin accessories became aesthetically pleasing and attractive—a distinctive feature of KS Botani’s products.

In addition to selling accessories, KS Botani produced a healthful beverage called “Wedang Krapis,” made from special herbal ingredients. Visitors could also enjoy “Telang” drinks and various snacks prepared by KS Botani members. Beyond the array of products for sale, the expo featured a batik station where visitors could freely express their creativity by designing batik patterns directly. Furthermore, KS Botani showcased other creations, including herbarium specimens, Botani batik fabric, eco-print fabric, and ice-dyed fabric.

According to Nur Fiddarayni, the 2022 chairperson of KS Botani, the Botanical Expo in its early years will have a positive impact. It serves as a platform for branding KS Botani and introducing its diverse product range to the general audience. Additionally, the expo aims to foster creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among its members, marking a promising beginning for the future of the Botany Study Group.
