Third Academic Year MBKM by the Biology Program

The Biology Program (PS Biologi) has once again organized the MBKM (Community Service Learning) activity for the third academic year, during the fall semester of 2022–2023. Building upon the success of the previous two years, this initiative aims to provide positive feedback to students, particularly those with specific interests not fully addressed within the Biology program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

In today’s rapidly changing world, students face challenges related to evolving job markets and technological advancements. They must acquire competencies relevant to the demands of the times. Innovative learning experiences are crucial, and universities are expected to support these needs. In the current academic year, the Biology program collaborated with several universities for outbound MBKM programs. For instance, four Biology students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga participated in an offline Cosmetics from Natural Ingredients course at Universitas Atma Jaya. Additionally, the MBKM Permata UIN program involved eight Biology students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, collaborating with UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN Walisongo Semarang, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, UIN Alauddin Makassar, and UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The MBKM Permata UIN activities were conducted online. The offered study programs included Ethnobiology, Industrial Microbiology, Environmental Impact Assessment (Amdal), Introduction to Amdal, and Plant Eco-physiology. Furthermore, two inbound MBKM students from UIN Walisongo Semarang participated in an online Hydroponics Techniques course.

Through these MBKM initiatives, the Biology program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga aims to enhance students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes, contributing to the continuous improvement of graduates’ competencies in the field of Biology.
