Monitoring and Evaluation of the Biology Program Research Roadmap

The activity commenced with a presentation by Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto, M. Agr, on the Research Roadmap. A research roadmap is a document that outlines research plans over a specific period (5-20 years) undertaken by an institution or organization. Importantly, the roadmap is not merely a research flowchart or method with the sole outcome of publications. The dimensions of the Research Roadmap include research that has been conducted, ongoing research, and future research. The benefits of a research roadmap include guiding researchers in determining the direction of their work, setting clear goals and targets, identifying main areas and related fields contributing to the primary domain, and detailing what has been, is currently being, and will be investigated. The relevance of research aligns with the UPPS (mandate from the Indonesian Higher Education Law, Article 1, Number 17, and Article 33, Paragraph 4, defining study programs).

The speaker also emphasized that the content of the Biology Program’s research roadmap should be structured based on SWOT analysis, with the results informing the strategic research plan. The research umbrella should be linked to the distinctive features of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, narrowing its scope to highlight the uniqueness of the Biology Program. Ideally, the research roadmap should span a longer timeframe, approximately 5-10 years. The insights provided by the speaker regarding the Prodi Biologi Research Roadmap offer a comprehensive perspective, enabling the Biology Program to revise its roadmap to better showcase the distinctiveness of UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
